Wednesday 27th 2006...

My Esteemed Teacher's dars on Wednesday 27th December was regarding Eid....

Sayyiduna Anas (Radiallahu Anhu) reported that when the Prophet Muhammad (Sallalahu Alaihe Wasallam) migrated from Makkah to Madinah, the people of Madinah used to have two joyous diversions. They carried out carnivals and made those days festive. The Prophet Muhammad (Sallalahu Alaihe Wasallam) asked the Ansaar (the Muslims of Madinah) concerning this. They answered in addition, before the advent of Islam they used to celebrate these two days.

The Prophet Muhammad (Sallalahu Alaihe Wasallam) told them:

'Instead of those two days, Allah has appointed two other days which are better, the days of Eid-al-Fitr and Eid-al-Adha.' (Abu Dawud)

These days do not symbolise a specific happening to celebrate.

Eid al-Fitr, is actually celebrated after the month of Ramadan, it is not owing to anything special that occurred on that specific day but Allah gave this day as a gift for striving the whole of Ramadan.

In the same manner Eid-ul-Adha is after the day of Arafah. Allah Subhanahu Watala has allowed us to rejoice on this day and has bestowed upon us an opportunity to participate in the joy with the Haji's (Those who are performing the pilgrimage).

A question may arise:
Don't we celebrate Eid due to the fact that Sayyiduna Ibrahim Alaihis Salaam was ordered to sacrifice Sayyidun Ismail Alaihis Salaam?

Of course, however we must conjure up that Sayyiduna Ibrahim Alaihis Salaam did not perform the sacrifice on that particular day. Therefore these days do not symbolise a specific happening to celebrate unlike other religions.

As an example can be given as apropos of Christmas, Christians believe Sayyiduna Isaa Alaihis Salaam (Jesus) was born on the 25Th December, which in fact is not true, therefore they supposedly celebrate that day.

ADVICES:
*We must all rejoice on these days. Eat, drink, and enjoy ourselves according to the laws of the Shariah.
*We must not disobey our lord Allah by breaking any of his orders due to celebration.

Inshallah may us all act upon on what has been written and said by my respected teacher...

Willpower...!!!...

On the 24th December my beloved teacher enlightened the gathering with concise advice in reference to WILLPOWER and determination.

Today we are in such a society that we confront many challenges and we also recognize them. However we must also acknowledge how to combat it and know how to go about it.

When one reads "LAILAHA ILLALLAH", it is not only sufficient for him because Allah Subhanahu Wata'alla mentions throughout the Qur'an, "Iman and Amal Saleh (good deeds)", one should have Iman and perform good deeds.

If one accepts Lailaha Illallah then he/ she must act upon the commands of Allah and carry out good deeds.

There are three major things that prevents one doing so:

1.Nafs (one's ego)
2.Shaytaan
3.Society

We will be able to avert both the NAFS and SHAYTAAN but then comes society. We mustn't let that be our weakness. We must try and overcome it by developing our Willpower and determination. When we have created that Willpower! Allah will love us. He has given this quality to everyone, both Muslims and non-Muslims, such as: Isaac Newton & Einstein

Newton:
Once he compiled his "Laws of motion" after much effort. Then there came a day, when he went out the room due to human necessities and returned. He saw that all his work had caught fire because of a candle. He did not get disappointed over this tragedy however, used is as motivation and did all his work again. He had that willpower!

Einstein:
He was travelling one day. Then the bus conductor gave him a negative remark about his mathematics. Since then he was determined to be good at maths and created the works "The theory of relativity".

If we have firm believe in Allah then we should be more determined on achieving our goal.

We have to be Enthusiastic.
We can only create this willpower to be steadfast on Deen, if we have the love for Allah.
1. Create that willpower. How?
2. Create the love for ALLAH. How?
3. To be in the company of those, who love ALLAH
Company makes an effect!
May Allah make me amongst them...Ameen

DAYS OF DHUL HIJJAH

On 22nd December, Friday's sermon, My Respected Teacher quoted a few verses from the Surah No. 89 Al-Fajr (The Dawn) This Surah has 30 Ayaat and was revealed in Makkah.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

1. By the dawn;

A question arises, Which dawn?

*A few commentators of the Qur'an indicate that this could be any dawn. Others mention that it could be the 10th Dhul Hijjah's dawn. The reason being is that the night before Yawman nahr (10th Dhul hijjah) is not actually the night of Yawman Nahr because this specific night is of Yawm al Arafah. We must understand that there are two nights of Arafah in the Shariah's perspective. The Shariah ruling is, if some one has been prevented to go to Arafah on its specific day however if he/she makes an attempt to arrive in Arafah even after Maghrib (which will be the night of the following day) his/her Hajj will be valid. So in conclusion that night will be classed as the night of Arafah. The dawn here is the dawn of Yawman Nahr to give its importance... (Allah knows best)...

2. By the ten nights.
(I.e. the first ten days of the month of Dhul-Hîjjah)

*The 10 nights... He (subhana watalla) has promised us on these blessed days also.

3. And by the even and the odd.

*11th 12th and the 13th are exceedingly elevated; therefore Allah subhana watalla gives firm assurance to those, who devote themselves in the pleasure of Allah on those days, as well as the ones mentioned above. Of course we are rewarded on these days, If we devote our self in worship and in the pleasure of Allah. However on the contrary we will also be humiliated and disgraced, If we engage our self in unlawful acts...

As My Beloved Teacher advises:

* Benefit from these blessed days as much as you can and build your akhirat (hereafter)
*Indeed we may do good deeds, however we should try our utmost best to avoid sins too. As good deeds are doubled in reward, similarly sins and their effects will also be doubled. Just as we take the blessed place in consideration we must also take the blessed time in consideration:
i.e. To drink alcohol in the Masjid is far more worse than drinking outside the Masjid, similarly to commit sins in these blessed days are more detrimental than committing them on any other occasion...

May Allah give us the understanding of Deen...

Words of Wisdom

My most beloved and highly respected teacher acknowledged what the many Muslim youth of these days call themselves:

"I am a MUZHLIM"

Do we apprehend on what has been said?

By observing the word Muzhlim, we will be able to recognise that in Arabic it means the one who causes darkness. The word originates from the verb:

Azh-la-ma (past) ...Yuzh-li-mu (present, future). To create darkness

Are we Muzhlims? Do we cause darkness? NO!

"We are MUSLIMS"(Submissive to Allah)

this word originates from the verb:

As-la-ma (past)....Yus-li-mu (present, future) ------>Tasleeman------> to be obedient Muslimun----> Obedient one

*we must refrain ourselves from changing the words because not only are we changing the words we are changing the meaning and degrading ourselves.

Thursday night 21st

My Esteemed Teacher took the place of his Beloved Father and did the lesson on Salat alan Nabi Sallallahu Alaihe Wasallam on Thursday night (the night between Thursday & Friday) ....

My respected Teacher's talk was based on a book
namely, Ash- Shifa Of Qadi 'Iyad (Arabic version)

The meaning of the prayer on the Prophet.

Allah says, "Allah and His angels pray blessing on the prophet." (33:56)

Ibn 'Abbas Radiallahu Anhu said that the meaning of this verse is that Allah and His angels invoke blessings on the prophet. It is said that Allah showers mercy on the Prophet and His angels supplicate for him.

Al-Mubarrad said, "The root of the prayer is invoking mercy. It is mercy from Allah, and from the angels it is graciousness and supplication for Allah's mercy". It is related in the hadith describing the prayer of the angels for someone, who sits waiting for the prayer that they say "O Allah, forgive him! O Allah, show mercy to him!" This is the supplication they make.

Abu Bakr al-Qushayri said, "The prayer from Allah is mercy for anyone else other than the prophet and for the prophet it is distinction and more honour."

Abu'l-'Aliya said, "The prayer of Allah is His praise of the prophet to the angels. The prayer of the angels is supplication."
The prophet made a distinction between salaat (prayer) and barakah (blessing) in the hadith in which he taught about making the prayer on him.
(Quoted from translation of ash-Shifa by Aisha Abdarrahman Bewely)
After this My respected teacher indicated a few beneficial points:

*We must try and read the Salat alan-Nabi Sallallahu Alaihe Wasallam as much as we can...

*One Shaykh said, "By studying Ahadith I have Managed to deduce that if one manages to get hold of recitation of Qur'an daily and Salat alan-Nabi Sallallahu Alaihe Wasallam then Allah will fullfill all his permissible desires..."

*By reciting Salat alan Nabi Sallallahu Alaihe Wasallam, Allah will create Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihe Wasallam's love in him...

*There are innumerable benefits regarding this topic..

May Allah give us the Taufique...

Wednesday 13th

My Respected Teacher's lesson in the Masjid on Wednesday was concerning death, the conclusion was:

When the deceased is taken to the grave to be buried, he goes with three things
*AHL (Family)
*MAAL (wealth)
*AMAL (Good and Bad deeds)

However from those three things, two will return back and one (AMAL-good and bad actions) will accompany him/her through out the journey of the hereafter.

The only luggage we will take is the "Suitcase of our good and bad actions"

Knowledge

My respected Teacher mentioned a few advises one evening to the students;

* We should try to learn the biographies of the pious predecessors:
* We need to be enthusiastic and have zeal for the knowledge like they had.
* We must also love and have high respect for the Asaatidha (teachers) Shuyooks (spiritual guides) as their original root goes back to our most beloved Rasool sallahu alaihi wassalam.

If we want to increase our knowledge and our love towards them, we must try and pray for them.
Atleast, this beautiful durood before we learn each kitaab (book) and gain our knowledge from.

ALLAH -The only BEING

Last Sunday, my respected Teacher did dars and took his beloved father's place, and he mentioned few words of wisdom...

Firstly, my respected teacher mentioned the Being, Allah سبحانه و تعالي, and mentioned we need to believe that Allah is everything and none other.

Allah has chosen his name in a such a unique way:

1. Take Alif out from the word Allah it becomes Lillah (for Allah)
2. Now take out the letter Laam from Lillah"(for Allah) and it becomes Lahu (only for Him)
3. Next take out the letter Laam (for)...we are left with "HU"(only He)

الله --> لله --> له --> ه

*Allah has chosen his beautiful name in such a way that in all directions it shows that everything is for Him... HIM ONLY!

As my respected teacher mentioned:

"Love and remember Allah in every situation, happiness and in times of difficulty. He will always be there for you"

An Example from my respected teacher:

"How do we know how sweet honey is if we haven't tasted it? How will a person know the sweetness of Allah's love, if one hasn't tasted it? How will a person taste the honey if one does not have it; How will a person taste the sweetness if he/she does not turn to Allah and ask for it?"...

Further My respected teacher said:

"When we want vegetables, we go to a vegetable shop, when we want hardware, we go to a hardware store...If we want Allah's love, we will find it by the Auwliya of Allah (friends of Allah) who are drowned in the love of Allah"

Intoxicate yourself in Allah's Love...

*When we Love a person, we find pleasure in doing anything to please him.

LOVE ALLAH, Inshallah we will find pleasure in acting upon his commands to please him.

My respected Teacher mentions:

"Love of Allah overpowers Fear of Allah"...

"Death, Is a bridge that takes one beloved to another"

Yes!..We are all scared to die because only Allah knows where we will end up in the hereafter. However a Lover (Aashiq) will find ecstacy in meeting his/her beloved and wont let death come in the way, but wait for it to come closer to his beloved (Allah).

May Allah سبحانه و تعالي give us the ability to act upon what has been said. Aameen

Car Navigator

A Shaykh (Spiritual Guide) directs you towards you're final destination (JANNAH)

My Respected Teacher gave an amazing example:

"When one is driving and he/she is lost, he may use a Car Navigator. If one types in Bristol and he/she is looking to go London. How will he/she reach his/her's destination?"

Similarly, how will a Spiritual Guide know how to guide you, if he doesn't know: Where you are, how you were and are, and where you want to go.

One must take in account that it is the seeker's duty to provide The Shaykh (Spiritual Guide) thorough information about him/her to be successful in the reformation.

Like it explains in "TASAWWUF IN BRIEF"...One must have full trust in his/her's Shaykh.

May Allah give us all the ability to act upon what has been written. May he be greatly pleased with My most highly respected teacher inshallah.
