Wednesday, March 21, 2007, my respected teacher delivered a Hadith discourse on “prescribed prayers….”
Sayyidatuna Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) used to remember Allah at all times. [Muslim].
We are all advised to remember Allah at all times as well.
Allah mentions in the Qur’an:
"And remember Allah much, that you may be successful.'' (62:10)
The reason stated to remember Allah is that we may be successful and if we do not remember Him it will not effect Allah even an iota bit. As by remembering him it will only save us from sins and increase the love for him.
Now the statement, which arises is that it is virtually impossible to sit in one place and remember Allah for hours and hours on end, with the rest of the day to day duties on our plate. However the foremost way of remembering Allah subhana wat'ala is by enforcing the prescribed prayers in our life.
Therefore when we go to sleep, wake up, eat, go out etc we must pray the specific prayers that has been given to us by our Rasul Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, in that way not only will we be remembering Allah every moment in our daily routine, but also acting upon the sunnah of Rasul Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. This will increase both the love for Allah and his Rasul Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. Insha-Allah.
Therefore hadhrat has chose to start these Wednesday lessons mentioning and explaining the daily prescribed prayers. The first prayer explained was:
When rising from sleep
We are reminded a few points concerning our beloved Allah Subhana Wa'tala in this prayer:
* He is the one who woke us up after sleep.
*Sleep is the brother of death; we are not conscious and are unaware of the happenings around us whilst we are asleep. He brought us back from that state.
* Finally we are reminded of death, as we will return to our most beloved.
NOTE:
This was the introductory of the prescribed prayers, from now insh'Allah Hadhrat will mention one prayer every week and in that way insha-Allah we will be able to act upon it and make our life in remembrance of Allah subhana Wat'ala and according to the Sunnah.
